When One Thief Accuses Another

HMRC (robbing bastards) have just published a statutory instrument which restricts the excesses that thieving banks might otherwise have gone to in levying charges when the taxman helps himself to funds in your bank account.

£55 is to be the maximum charge.

I guess it should act as an incentive to pay up rather than wait for HMRC to swoop.  Banks charge a lot, but it won’t be £55 for writing out a cheque.
