Organisation Can Defeat HMRC

A recent case before the First Tier Tribunal ended in favour of the taxpayer and defeated HMRC penalties.

The judge was quick to side with the taxpayer as he was the party that presented the most compelling evidence.  He retained copies of all correspondence while HMRC offered only an excuse that they had not kept copies.

The lesson to take from this is to keep copies of everything just in case you end up in dispute.
