List of National Minimum Wage Offenders Published
HMRC has just uploaded the latest list of employers who have been caught not paying the national minimum wage.
An insight into HMRC’s tactics in this area are in this quote: “Naming and shaming gives a clear warning to employers who ignore the rules, that they will face reputational consequences as well as financial penalties .”
If you see being on HMRC’s website as a reputational loss, this should encourage you to be a bit more careful with the minimum wage. You can certainly see from the list that it doesn’t take much to go wrong to end up with your name in lights. They appear to have a threshold of £100 of wages underpaid. Anything over that and you are on that particular naughty list.
